ABOUT

Illawarra and South Coast Tenants Service (ISCTAAS) provides free information, advice and advocacy. This includes help with applications and hearings in the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal. ISCTAAS helps Housing NSW tenants, community housing tenants, Aboriginal housing tenants, permanent residents of caravan parks and manufactured home estates, boarders and lodgers, and private tenants.

Our services are available to renters the Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama, Wingecarribee, Shoalhaven, Eurobodalla, and Bega Valley areas.

Face-to-face appointments are available as required at Illawarra Legal Centre, Wollongong Homeless Hub, and Eurobodalla Family Support Service. ISCTAAS also provides free Community Education Workshops.

ISCTAAS is a program of Illawarra Community Legal Centre.

Tenant Advocates are hard at work all across NSW – making sure tenants know their rights, so we can keep on building good homes and communities. Here are some of the recent examples of the work of our Network, from stalls in the community, to our Network Conference, to winning compensation for tenants, to resisting unfair evications, and helping tenants who are facing mutiple disadvantage.

New Tenancy Law Regulations – have your say

The Residential Tenancies Amendment (Review) Act 2018 passed late last year – containing a number of positive changes, and some shortcomings. Regulations are currently being drafted; we encourage you to have your say via the Fair Trading website (before 2nd August). Q+A: Water restrictions, drought and rental bond

"The agent is demanding all of my bond to pay for turf and lawn work. The lawn is not what it was at the beginning of the tenancy. But, we are in drought and there are water restrictions. It does not seem fair that I have to pay for turf etc when the lawn would probably have died anyway. Where do I stand? What can I do?"
