COVID-19 service update: Tenant Advocates are working remotely to keep our advice service operating. When phoning our office, please leave a message and an advocate will return your call from a mobile phone or private number.

Mid Coast Tenants Advice and Advocacy Service (MCTAAS) is a free service providing information and advice to all tenants, including private and social housing tenants, and home owners in residential communities. Where appropriate, we also provide advocacy and representation to clients with proceedings before the NSW Civil & Administrative Tribunal. We also provide education in tenants' rights, for community workers, tenants, land lease community residents and community groups.

Our services are available to clients in the Local Government Areas of Hastings, Kempsey, Bellingen, Nambucca, Coffs Harbour and the Greater Taree part of Mid-Coast.

Forging Ahead – Tenant Advocates Conference 2021

TAAS Conference 2021
In October 2021, around 100 Tenant Advocates from across NSW came together online for our annual Tenants Advice and Advocacy Services Conference, under the theme 'Forging Ahead'. It was a great opportunity for Tenant Advocates to hear from each other about the issues faced by different renters, and to learn, discuss and innovate in our practice. A main focus of the Conference this year was the huge challenges faced by renters due to COVID and the ongoing housing crisis, as well as how we can forge ahead and continue to improve.

Staying Connected – TAAS Conference 2020

Last week, over 100 Tenant Advocates participated in our first online Tenants Advice and Advocacy Services Conference. We explored a range of topics, including changes to tenancy laws, policy reform, and advocate work practice. We looked in detail at the effects COVID-19 has had on tenants lives, the Tribunal’s practices, tenancy law, and mental health.
