ABOUT

What we do: Free telephone advice, information, advocacy, and (where appropriate) representation at the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT).

Who we can assist: people renting privately through a landlord or Real Estate Agent, tenants in Public and Community housing, tenants renting Caravan Parks, homeowners in Land Lease Communities and residents of Boarding Houses. Our services are available to renters in Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Maitland, Cessnock, Singleton, Upper Hunter, Muswellbrook or the Great Lakes areas of Mid Coast Local Government Area.

Joint statement: Reinstate evidence requirements for evictions due to repairs or renovations

On Friday, 20th June, only five weeks after the new rental laws came into effect, ending no-grounds evictions, the NSW government significantly weakened the rules surrounding evictions for renovations/repairs. The NSW Government must commit to reinstating the evidence requirements for landlords seeking to evict a tenant due to significant repairs or renovations, and restore trust in the tenancy reform process— a joint st from the Tenants' Union and our sector partners.
