Dear Director-General

Re: Dispute at [your address]

I write concerning a dispute under a residential tenancy agreement at the above address. I request that you, in your capacity as Tenancy Commissioner, you seek to resolve the issues in dispute, pursuant to section 16 (1B) of the Residential Tenancies Act 1987.

[Write details of the dispute and what attempts you have made to resolve the dispute.]

I would ask that you contact [the landlord/agent] with a view to the satisfactory resolution of the dispute, as per section 16(1B) of the Residential Tenancies Act 1987. Should the owner not agree to a settlement, I ask that you provide me with a letter indicating that you have unsuccessfully sought to resolve this dispute and provide your consent for the matter to be referred to the Consumer, Trader and Tenancy Tribunal for resolution under section 16 (1C) of the abovementioned Act.

I would appreciate an early reply to the matters raised in this letter. I can be contacted at the above address in writing or on [phone number].

Yours sincerely

T Tenant
