Boarders and Lodgers

Boarders and lodgers are not covered by residential tenancies legislation. This means they have few legal rights and limited ways of resolving disputes. Sometimes people who think that they are boarders or lodgers are actually tenants. For advice on whether you are actually a tenant, contact your local Tenants Advice and Advocacy Service.

For information about your rights and responsibilities, contact your local Tenants Advice and Advocacy Service and look at the Tenants Rights Factsheets.
